The area is excavated either by using a mini-excavator or by shovel, depending on the size of the area. Edge restraint is then set up.
A sub-base of MOT Type 1 aggregate is then laid onto the excavated area. This is then compressed using a vibrating plate in layers of 50mm until the desired level is reached.
50mm of course sharp sand is then laid and compacted down using a vibrating plate, to an approximate depth of 35mm. A further 20mm layer of sand is then raked on top and levelled using screeding rails.
The block paving is then laid on top of the sand. When the laying of the drive is completed, the area is brushed with kiln dried sand and thoroughly compacted using a vibrating plate. Kiln dried sand in then brushed over the paviors to ensure that all joints are filled.
